Celebrating the Many Faces
of the Nativity
Accented with fabric, the festival featured sets from over fifty countries, local designers, and three incredible commissions. Fr. Guerric Heckel reflects on 20 years of the Mepkin Abbey Creche Festival.

NATIVITY IN NATURE
The 2022 Creche Festival was inspired by the immersive natural experience at Mepkin Abbey as it weaves into the nativity. Incorporating living and found materials, we celebrate sacred ground as a living temple.
2021
BETHLEHEM WITHIN
The 2021 Annual Crèche Festival featured 95 displays from Mepkin’s collection. The displays were created both in South Carolina and all around the world.
